Introduction:
At Beyond The Spectrum ABA Therapy (BTS), we understand that sensory experiences are central to how many children on the autism spectrum learn, play, and interact with the world. That’s why our center features a dedicated Sensory Room designed to help children develop regulation skills and improve focus.
What Is a Sensory Room?
A Sensory Room is a calming, carefully designed space that provides a variety of sensory experiences in a safe and supportive environment. It allows children to explore, self-regulate, and prepare for learning.
Features of Our Sensory Room:
Our Sensory Room includes:
- Soft lighting and soothing colors to reduce overstimulation
- Weighted blankets and crash pads for deep-pressure input
- Swings and movement equipment to support vestibular needs
- Tactile stations with different textures and materials
- A water bubble wall fountain that provides calming visual and auditory input
- A chaise and big bean bags for comfortable relaxation
- Quiet corners for decompression
Advantages of Our Water Bubble Wall Fountain:
The water bubble wall fountain is a favorite feature for many children. It offers:
- Gentle, rhythmic movement of bubbles that can help reduce anxiety
- Soft, ambient sounds of bubbling water that promote calm focus
- Visual stimulation that supports sustained attention without overwhelming the senses
- A soothing focal point to aid in self-regulation during transitions or breaks
This multisensory experience can be especially beneficial for children who need help centering themselves before or after therapy activities.
Why Sensory Regulation Matters:
Many children with autism experience challenges processing sensory information. A dedicated space to practice self-regulation can:
- Reduce anxiety and meltdowns
- Improve focus and readiness to learn
- Build coping strategies that transfer to home and school
Our therapists use the Room to integrate sensory supports into each child’s therapy plan.
Family Involvement and Observation:
Parents are encouraged to learn how sensory tools work by observing through our Parent Viewing Room. Our team provides education so you can use similar techniques at home.
Serving North Metro Atlanta Families:
We proudly serve children in Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell, Cumming, Johns Creek, Sandy Springs, and nearby communities.
